What HD's for Raid 0?

hi all, i am looking through newegg, trying to find a pair of high capacity hard drives to use in a RAID 0 array. i have heard that western digitals are a no-go as the setup will break, what about a pair of these samsung drives?

I know about Samsung's F1 series, supposedly meant for RAID arrays, but is it necessary? because a normal 640GB hd costs as much as a 500GB F1.

The array will be used to install games, burn dvd's, encode dvd's, load games, and run normal programs.

My budget is $130 Shipped.

You dont want high capacity drives for raid 0, you want two small ones which you would put the os and software on and 1 high cap one for data.

With raid 0 you risk losing all your data if one drive dies.

Alternatively you could get 3 high cap drives and set up a raid 5 which means that its quicker and if 1 drive goes you can still access your data.

as far as i know you can't have a high cap and low cap HD in RAID 0?

either way, i am keeping my current 320gb sata drive as my boot drive, with my copy of windows and essentials running off of that disk.

raid 5 isnt an option, because of my budget. with $130 i would be hard pressed to get three 160gb hard drives.

but back to my question, are those samsung drives capable of a raid array without frying in 6 months?

EDIT: read a bit and apparently i am wrong, i thought i had read before that raid arrays only worked with exact same hard drives.

The raid array will take the size of the smallest drive if you use 2 different size drives. thats why its always best to use the same size drives.
