What is a good, everyday laptop for under $500

Try not to make multiple threads covering the same topic, this post could have gone in your first thread.

Anyways, I highly recommend that you save up a little more money, because I'm sure you saw the Acer Aspire for $530(top of the list after clicking on the third from last link). That is probably the biggest bang for your buck. It has a 17" display, an AMD Phenom II 2.2ghz quad-core cpu, 500gb storage, 4gb of memory, and a dedicated radeon 6400 series gpu.

The only other comp that is okay on your list is the Gateway for $470, in your first link.

Let me compare the two: (Gateway is on the left)
15" display vs. 17" display
Dual-Core @ 1.9GHz vs. Quad-Core @ 2.2Ghz
Integrated Graphics(Radeon 6480g) vs. Dedicated Graphics(Radeon 6470m) (Dedicated is better)
---Don't let the higher number fool you, because the Radeon 6480g is integrated, let alone that it's paired with a slower dual-core cpu, it is much slower than the dedicated Radeon 6470m(dedicated=It has its own memory and doesn't need to share resources with the rest of computer=higher performance)

Their memory and storage capacity are the same. So you have to ask yourself if the larger display, faster cpu, and faster gpu, are worth the extra $60. In my opinion, that's a definite yes :D But the decision is up to you.

To answer your question, the Gateway should be able to handle Sims 3, but don't expect it to run flawlessly. As for the rest of your list, probably not so well. I say scrounge up $60 somewhere and get the Acer, you get the most performance for what your spending :good:
