What Is a Good Notebook Computer for Windows XP?

I currently have a Dell Studio notebook computer. It is a few years old. When I bought it, Dell (and all the other big manufacturers) had abandoned Windows XP, and were offering Vista as the only operating system option. I prefer Windows XP to Vista, so I installed XP on the computer. Unfortunately, XP has never worked quite right. It turns out that Dell chose audio and video components whose manufacturers didn't keep the drivers working properly for XP. In particular, the ATI graphics card has given me lots of trouble.

Now I'm due for another computer. I prefer XP to Windows 7, so I'll probably replace the operating system on whatever computer I buy, just like last time. This time, however, I'd like to do research beforehand to make sure the computer I purchase supports XP.

Therefore, my question is: Is there any brand or specific product which is well-known for its compatibility with Windows XP? If this has already been discussed on this forum (or elsewhere), I would appreciate a link to the discussion.

P.S. I've configured my current computer dual-boot Linux, and I intend to do the same with my new one. Unfortunately, my work requires me to use Windows, so I can't consider using Linux or Mac as my primary operating system. In addition to Windows XP, I'd like to make sure my new computer also supports Linux, but I'm not very worried about that.

Pretty much your in for a lot of research. Find the model number of laptops, figure out the important components that require drivers model numbers, and go to the manufacturers website and see what OSes their drivers support. A lot of work when you can just learn the windows 7 that comes on it, which is more secure and more supported by todays software anyways.

As said above most netbook support xp, but it won't exactly be an upgrade to your old computer.
