Hey im looking for an anti-virus and i was wonder what you think is the best. I'm looking for a free service, and i want it to be good at detecting and removing. idc if its fast or not why get a anti-virus if it cant find anything. So if anyone could give me their opinion that would be great. Thx :D

all the way try AVG and avira both free editions and you will land on safest system. I use this configuration,
and if you want to get on paid anti virus then get a copy of Norton internet security 2009
or kasperskey 2009 ... both are awesome performers

without a doubt, Avast is the best and it's completely free - no strings attached. It at least 10 times as good as Norton. As long as it's for home use, you can use all the features for free and all you need to do is to update your registration once a year.

If you are using it for business purposes you have to pay for it though, but I've had no problems with any virusses for the 2 years I've been using it.

Try AVG free edition its very effective and have several benefits.

1 It protects PC from all latest viruses
2 Like other anti virus softwares. It won't slow down your computer
3 It has a quick virus scan unlike other anti viruses

I have been using AVG for more than 2 years and its great.

Previously I use Avast and is very much satisfied by it.Now I am trying AVG lets see how well it goes.So I think both are good product, try anyone of these.

I have had pretty much the works over my computing life, payed and unpayed. Norton, McAffee, Kaspersky, Panda, AVG etc etc and now I am on Avast! and i can promise you without a shadow of a doubt it is the best I have ever used. It is lightweight, lets no viruses in (it has always picked em up before they have come in for me), scans very quickly compared to the others and you don't notice it at all except for when it tells you it has updated the virus database...and how many actually say to you "virus database has been updated" ?

You should try AVG since its scanning results are perfect and it is also very easy to use it.

Any Free Anti-virus program would do, As long as you stay away from bad sites that are known to cause damage to your computer. On my XP system I have Nod32 Internet Security installed and it works great, But I heard something about Sandboxie, runs your programs in an isolated space which prevents them from making permanent changes to other programs and data in your computer, Sounds like something that would be good for replacing Anti-virus programs.
