i just got an asus f50 sv notebook and i read on the reviews that it comes with a lot of bloatware. can anyone help me in distinguishing bloatware from what i actually need/ want?

thanks :)

i think this might be relating to the pre installed stuff that slow down your system, for example on any pc world bought item has installed "The Tech guys" programs which drastically slow it down.

how do i get rid of it? id like to optimize my performance :)

here is a link to an image of my programs on my control panel if that helps...maybe i have some useless ones i could get rid of...

wow that thing is loaded with shit, erm i personally havent owned an asus before but i dont think you need all of that asus stuff on there.

but wait for someone else to correct me if im wrong.

- i personally do a fresh install on whatever laptop or desktop i buy.

k, if anyone can tell me exactly what i can uninstall i would really appreciate it. last time i tried clearing out my old computer i erased a sound driver so id rather not screw it up again.

thx :)

well with the notebook you have just bought you would have got the drivers cd and everything else so if you ever remove something like that it can always be put back on

how is anybody going to tell ya what to remove if you don't know.

suggestion:
goto start / programs and take a look at what ya got. (check it out).

Then:
goto start / run / msconfig / then startup.
you can turn them off so they don't start up.
reboot, i think its ok to leave it for a while. lots of time you don't need this startintg up. (mostly). you will just do it manually. later you can look again what ya have turned off.

When ya know what you won't use:
Go back to start / control panel add or remove.
Get rid of it.

Yup, do what tremmor says. As for what you can disable, pretty much everything depending on what functions you use. Keep the touchpad stuff if you use the touchpad shortcuts, keep the hotkey program if you use the "fn" key, etc. Everything else can go unless you regularly use it. If you disable the third party wireless stuff, you might have to go into wireless settings and enable "Use windows to configure my wireless settings".
