What is happening?

At my school, we have that one computer that nobody can get to work. Its some kind of dell. XP Pro. you get the picture. So, when you try to boot it, it wont go into the OS. Ive gotten to BIOS and tried messing with that but i havnt gotten any results. What it will do is instead of going into XP is it will go into a "Crash Dump". What is this? sounds like its reformatting or something. Then, it will never finish crash dumping. is this the cause of a virus? is there a solution? Did the OS somehow get erased???

hopefully, i can fix it and be the class nerd/hero... unlikely.

rebooting and hitting the F8 key can ya start up in safe mode?

If rebooting can ya hit F8 and start in last known configuration that worked.
