What is NOT made for expansion cards

Not really sure which place to put this so I put it here...can be replaced if necessary.

what kind of devices are not made for expansion slots. what kind of devices basically arent made in the form of expansion cards.

any ideas. i cant seem to come up with any off the top of my head. or google lol

a question my professor gave us to think about but i keep coming to those that are made for expansion cards...

Do you mean expansion cards as in PCI, PCI-E, AGP etc?
Well, processors certainly won't fit in a PCI slot
Hard drives Won't
RAM won't
Cooling fans definately won't
Neither will Power Supplys unless you want to destroy something

there are special cards that will let you run a processor on a card... there are PCI cooling fans, Harddrive converters for PCI and certin kinds of PCI RAM converters were used a LONG time ago
 
ya those are all things i thought about but came to the conclusion that you could use them. and the class is for the A+ hardware cert test so a lot of it is in reference to those antiques. thats why ram and chips and fans i disreguarded. not sure what he means exactly by device. trying to think about what device isnt made to be accomodated by an expansion card

no longer in production but still used sometimes, called a daughterboard or a fatherboard (depending on environment). And yes, they do exist, its not just a motherboard, theres a whole famly ya know.

Gigabyte also do a ram card nowadays.

And the fans can be also powered by PCI

Theres Sata cards and all that for hard drives.
 
well can u guys come up with anything that isnt or hasnt been made for an expansion slot???Thinking about all the things that are is just making my head spin...although when you dont know what isnt i guess its good to know what does...arghhhhhhh if only i could think of somethings that arent made for expansion cards....
 
a keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, screws, floppy disks, cd's, dvd's, all sorts of flash memory, USB interface devices... :P

ya i just went with cd and floppy cuz even if they made them to work in an expansion slot who would want to reach around the back of their pc to put in a cd or insert a floppy. that would just suck. wouldnt make much sense so i just told him that lol thanks guys
