What is PXE support?

My motherboard has a PEX power connector and all the manual and various websites say is that its for PXE support. None of these say what that is though. Any help is appreciated

On a mother board one application for a "PEX" connector is an auxillery power feed. But the same name there can also be applied to ac connections and adapters. The term I-PEX refers to mobile devices like IPods and other portable players as well as additional device support seen in desktops for adding entertainment devices to the PCI bus. One such application involves patching the PCI bus to the PCI-Express bus as described at http://cs.pennnet.com/display_artic...rm-enables-multi-channel-PCI-Express-designs/

Is this what your talking about

The ExpressLane™ PEX 8111 is a high performance bridge designed to the PCI Express-to-PCI Bridge Specification 1.0, that enables designers to migrate legacy PCI bus interfaces to the new advanced serial PCI Express. This 2-port device is equipped with a single lane PCI Express port and a parallel bus segment supporting the conventional PCI operation. The PEX 8111 is capable of operating in forward and reverse bridging modes

Usage Models

Supports forward and reverse bridging as defined by the PCI Express-to-PCI/PCI-X Bridge Specification 1.0.

Thank you all for your responses. Does it mean that I have to plug the power supply into it or it wont run as efficient as it could?

What make and model is the board there? On the Socket 939 model here a second rather different shaped 12v plug goed into the board for an auxillry molex output. In fact one of the 120mm case fans mounted on the side cover plugs in there. The name itself covers a variety of things for pc as well as electirical and plumbing even. That's why the board manufacturer's support site should provide more information on it's application.
