What is so special about the google ads?

why do ppl who have websites say that we should click the ads? does clicking the ads trick the companies that we are interested in them?

Because they are there sponsors.... they put the google ads up to make money, or to help pay for the website.
 
Usually they keep count of how many clicks they get on the ad banners. I'm sure they compare it to their actual hits. However, the internet ad market crashed not too long ago and ad banners stopped paying very well. Not sure if we have or ever will recover from it. Use to ad banners could pay for free dial up internet service (netzero/Juno) and free PC to phone long distance (dialpad.com) now you have to pay for all that stuff and still have ad banners and alot of sites that depended on them now offer a subscription service to stay online. Even so they still generate enough revenue to stay there and be annoying.
