what is the best CPU that is the same socket size as an amd xp 2200+?

Like folks here said XP 3200+ is the best for Socket A (462-pin), but I think it's a waste of money since you can get a Mobile Athlon XP 2500+ Barton and OC it to 3200+ speeds and above (increasing the FSB from 166 MHz to 200 MHz).

considering you spend $100~ for a 3200+ and about $150 for the 2500+ cause everyone wants one

Ok, I'm looking at the prices here in Croatia and:

Amd Athlon XP 2000+, Socket A $87
Amd Athlon XP 2200+, Socket A $90
Amd Athlon XP 2800+, Socket A $177  (costs more than 3000+)
Amd Athlon XP 3000+, Socket A $166
Amd Athlon XP Mobile 2400+, Socket A $89 (I have this one)
Amd Athlon XP Mobile 2500+, Socket A $133
Amd Athlon XP Mobile 2600+, Socket A $149

Way too overpriced.

i stand corrected...

That isn't mobile edition.

Ah gee? Should I jump in here with "dual channel" only seen on the XP3200+? Even the 3000+ lacks that. Tnen there were some 3200+ that could crank out when OCed due to a limited number being unlocked. Unfortunately the one used here only made it to 2.3ghz when that was tried.
