What is the best firewall security?

I buaght the Zonealarm Suite that came with the firewall and virus scan and alot of other goodies. When i did firewall tests on a few sites it kept saying my comp wasnt safe because some of my ports were opened. I tested the virus scan and found nothing. I downloaded AVG free virus scan and caught a virus.

I don't really trust Zonealarm anymore and wasted alot of money on it. I now have a free AVG virus scan and now I need a good firewall, any help?
 
why didn't u try zonealarm out first?

the ports will have to do with your router( i believe ).. if u know your IP, u can type it into IE ( or ur browser of choosing ).. it'll let u see what ports are open if u have broadband.. i dunno if there is a program to assist you in that process.. this is how i fix mines.. so try it out..

to answer your question.. there are many.. just to throw some out..

keiro, sygate, mcafee, avg has one, webroot, outpost..

i have bitdefender, it comes with one.
