what is the best temp

Hi,
I was just reading a thread about CPU temps for the newer AMDs and I am wondering where I am at with this. here's my specs:

m2n32-sli wireless edition
AMD Athlon 64 x2 4600+
2 gig memory
MSI NX7950GX2-T2D1GE GeForce 7950 GX2 PCI Express 1GB
I got 3 HDD sitting infront of the air intake to cool'em down.
Thermaltake 750W PSU(It's got 1 huge fan blowing for quiet cool)
I got a fan in the ceiling of the case blowing out.
I got a 92 mm case fane in back sucking air out.
I got a Zalman Quiet ZM80A-HP VGA ZM80A-HP on CPU

My temps are: CPU idle around 50C
Mobo 51C
This is the temps when running my back fan which is controled is
at its lowest rpms.

are these temps ok, or should I get a fan to suck in air in the front.
When on load my temps are 5C higher on both mobo and CPU.

thanks for any input,

Mike

The chipset is cooled by heatsink/heatpipe, and I bought the Zalman Quiet ZM80A-HP VGA ZM80A-HP on CPU.

I really thank you for replying. It's been a while since I have build a PC, and when finally I could afford it, I went for it. The case I bought is also nice.....no, it is not a green monster or a discolored painted piece of art, it is a sleak pretty case that I thought was something I can look at everyday for many hours without getting tired of it.

When I got the mobo. I almost got dizzy from the many features, but for other interested buyers, the deafult BIOS settings are well done, and the only things I have uninstalled is the cool n' quiet, which windows XP apparently needs a fix for, and if you call them on the phone they will give it to you now, but recommends waiting for Servicepack 3.

The mobo did come with a little fan, but the warning on it says that it is only to be used with a water cooler or a passive cooler on the CPU.

I also would like to ask what kind of benchmark software I would bennefit from using? I am interested in all hardware benchmark, but especially graphics.
I would like to purchase a program that can do all of it, is proffesional and has a forum or a online list of other peoples systems and their results and what they do to improve performance and so on.

Thanks again, I am grateful for your input,

Mike

it depends on where you live. you could live in texas and ambient temps (outside the case) could be super high, making all other temps (if its air cooled, which im assuming it is) higher.
idle temps don't matter a whole lot though, load temps do.
let us know what your temps are when you run this program

prime95 stresses the cpu and therefore creates a lot more heat.

Im not sure about the specs of the newer AMD's but I know my older XP 3200 overclocked 100Mhz at 2.3 gigaherts ran around 38C idle 48 full load but that processor is a diffrent animal in itself but my intel dual core runs around 48 to 50C and idle with the stock intel heatsink which kinda sucks but I know with aftermarket heatsinks they normally run around 38C but Intels run a little cooler then AMD due to architechure

fade2green514: How on earth do I use that software?
What is the work that is being scheduled and how do I know it is running?

sorry, but this software needs a better user interface, but thanks.

Mike

OK, I figured it out and ran tests for about 1 hour and the temp on mobo stayed around 53C and the cpu stayed steady at 55C while under the test.

pretty good?
