What is the best video card for GTA San Andreas?

Hi all, I am tired of playing GTA SA at 1024x768 on medium-low settings just to get an acceptable frame rate with my Radeon HD2900XT, so does anybody know which card gets 30 to 40FPS at 1920x1200 on maximum settings? I am presuming it will be an NVIDA card, since I got more FPS on that game with my old 6600GT than I do with my current card :( I am probably thinking it will be an 8800GTS G92 or a 9600GT? Just anything, to make the game smooth. :) I do not care if its a little bit of a downgrade or an upgrade, I just want to play my game like the good old days. (its really the only game I play, well, occasionally I play TDU and Flight Sim X).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Something is seriously wrong with your video card if it cannot max out GTA:SA. Get the latest drivers if you havent already. Don't go out buying a new video card just yet, because the one you have now is fine.

Indeed, every other game is perfectly fine. I have turned off the FPS lock, occasionally I hit 160fps, then it just drops down to 11fps for 20 seconds or so, then back up to 50fps. Would going crossfire be worth it?

i think theres alot of problems with San andreas on Pc using a ATI Card... i had it on my old Sempy rig with a 9600 pro and gig of ram and it lagged very bad.

i couldnt understand because i could play more demanding games than San andreas on it lol

no its not that your card is having problems, definetely not.

even my X800GTO could max that game easily, dont blow 250 bucks on another card, and see no improvement lol.

try updating your cards drivers, look up fixes, if its a known problem, and do system scans of all sorts, maybe something is hogging resources.

Indeed, I can play any other game on max settings, even more demanding games, and not have a single lag and get about 80fps. But San Andreas seems to run horrible. At least it is not just me. Hopefully GTA IV will be coded better.

After going around online, it looks to be a coding problem with GTA. So I wont blow money for a new GPU now that I know its not just me with the problem. :P

coding problem huh? i couldnt tell you if there were any hotfixes out, i'm sure you would have already looked.

seems alot of those are in games lately, another thread has a guy crashing consistently in Assassins creed... why cant they just make games like rollercoaster tycoon 1 any more, that game never crashed or gave me driver problems before!
