Hi all,
I plan to upgrade my laptop hard drive in the near future, what is the best way to transfere the old drive to the new one with out to install the operationg system and all the software? I know there are some software that can easily clone the desktop hard drives. but laptop drives are more challenge. first I have to put the two drives in a computer system or got a third drive to copy the old drive information in there and restore to the new drive. Any ideas?
Thank you.
Paul

Get an USB hard drive box, put a new drive into it, clone onto that new drive via USB, swap the drives. Should work.

Actually, I wouldn't clone your hard drive. If you are getting a new computer, then the old drivers and boot method and everything probably won't work very well. Also, you are supposed to reinstall the OS every 18 months, so this is a good time.

Not a new computer. just a larger harddrive. the original 60gb hard drive is run out of space. so I order a 320gb hard drive. it is a notebook computer, it can't use two drive, so I have to clone the old drive to the new one. I do some reserch and decide to use my 500gb external seagate usb harddrive to copy the old drive and put it back to the new one using one of those clone software.
Thank you.
Paul
