What is the bottleneck?

Hey all im new here. I am looking to upgrade my computer but I need to know what would be the best thing to upgrade first to prevent a bottleneck.

Here is my setup.

Running XP Professional
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
nVidia 7800GT PCI-E
2GB PC3200 DDR 3-3-3-8
ASUS A8N-E Motherboard
Creative Audigy 4
550W Power Supply

I am thinking of purchasing an nVidia 8800GTX if its my video card. If its my memory, I will upgrade to 4gb. If its my processor, im thinking of a 4800+ or 5200+ (if that exists, i think so.) Any responds will be greatly appreciated.

Nice to be here,

you dont need 4gb of memory 2 is enough personnally i would go with a core duo 6600 cpu but that means changing the mobo and getting ddr2 memory

Unless you want to throw money away, you ain't got no bottleneck.

What you have is good enough for everything today.

Right now there really isnt much of a bottleneck. But if you wanted to buy an 8800, you should upgrade to a Core 2 Duo, otherwise there will be a bottleneck.

Thanks for responses guys. So it seems that the new trend is Intel.. I remember half a year ago when AMD was... the shit..

If you guys are wondering, the main reason I want to upgrade is so Maya and Oblivion run faster. Oblivion runs for me at about 8-20FPS outside and that is too slow for me hehe.

It has nothing to do with Intel or AMD, simply that the best processor right now happens to be Intel. I'd upgrade CPU/Mobo/RAM now, and get an 8800 in a little while. Plus, they'll be cheaper then anyway.
