what is the diff. between imacs and mac minis?

i was at an apple store yesterday and I saw one of those iMacs and it was hooked up to something that looked like a Mac Mini.. what is the difference? and why is the Imac screen so thick?

imac has monitor, mac mini doesnt.

the iMac is completely self encased, meaning the processor, hdd, video card, motherboard, and monitor are all one piece. that is why it is much thicker than the normal LCD screens.

the mac mini is a miniature version of any normal tower based computer. it needs to be hooked up to an external monitor or display just like any other desktop computer.

Oh then how come the iMac was hooked up to those box thingies that look like a mac mini

it might of been a itv? or are you sure it wasn't just hooked up to a monitor?
