What is the difference btwn Avira and AGV?

So,my Norton2009 trial is running out on my netbook.
I have used a couple paid AV before but ended up with getting virus,malware etc..So I am going to try free AV this time.

I know everyone has different preference and opinion. I have researched and I think I am going for either AGV or Avira.From the reviews on download.com, I am a little bit more positive on AVG but I have read some threads here saying Avira was the best.

So what is the difference? Is Avira good on Win7? i currently use vista , planning to upgrade to win7 soon. I found AVG works on Win7.the browser i use mainly is Firefox.

Another question is...Should I get other antimalware and antispyware,too?Then,I have antimalwarebyte but it is a free version so no realtime protect tho...

Avira and AVG are both great A/Vs, if I were to choose, I'd go with Avira, but keep in mind, they're both pretty useless if you do not know how to "stay safe" over the internet (ex: not opening attachment from unknown e-mails)
 
It's your own personal preference as to which program is best. I've had no problems with AVG compared to what other people have said about it. AVG has never failed me, it will pop up when there is an infection if i'm just browsing the web.

As far as malwareprograms, I recommend Malwarebytes and Superantispyware. I've worked on computers that have had realtime scanning programs and still get infected.

And if you do get infected, you can come back here and we'll help you clean it up.

Yea,Last time I got infected so bad and since then i am being very careful.That's the part of reason i switched from IE to Firefox.

thanks for your recommendation.i will download Superantispyware too.
Even with realtime scanning and still get infected, so i'd just scan regularly instead.

Now i still have a trial Norton here,how do i switch?
it's going to expire so just ignore or i need an uninstall tool?
do i uninstall first and get whatever the new one I want?

Here i came up with another question for you.(sorry...)
Do you check see if it is a falsepositive or not everytime security program detects anything? How do i find it out?
i always just "remove" it all with no doubt. i wonder if it is right...because my old pc got infected and after i removed all of them, i wasn't be able to be online anymore...

I ran scan and Adware tracking cookie was detected.
 
That usually only happens when the malware has changed your winsock settings and then you delete the infection but the settings never got fixed. In that case you can run a program called winsockxp fix and restore your internet.
