hard to compare single and dual core, but the amd is probobly a bit better.

as pal said, you cant really compare a single core to a dual-core. But that X2 would easily outperform a 3Ghz P4.

depends on what you're doing.
single core a 3200+ (or even 3000+) should be around a 3ghz pentium 4.
dual core the 3800+ is better than it in most apps.. but is about the same or better in single threaded apps.
