What is the maximum RAM (and type) for this VAIO

Dear Friends?

There is a Vaio VGN-N395E Notebook, currently it holds a 1GB (512MB x 2) RAM DDR2 at 533Mhz, at the official documentation the maximum reachable RAM size is listed as 2GB, now I wonder if this is because of the period of production of laptop (no better performance was needed) or the number of slots is just two....

Briefly I wonder if it is possible to reach more than 2GB RAM by buying new module(s), and if it has to be roughly DDR2 or I can choose DDR3, will it be a compatibility issue or what?

other specification that may help you are:
Processor: Intel Core2 Duo Processor T5300
Speed: 1.73GHz
Front Side Bus Speed: 533MHz
L2 Cache: 2MB
HardDisk: 160 GB HDD

Thanks in advance :D

thank you innercx,
so, even if I manage to get two modules of 2 GB i wont be able to use them?
and the only thing that I can do is two get 2 modules of 1GB DDR2 RAM,
is there room for experimentation or this is 100% sure that all I can have is 2GB....

PS:excuse me for writing in multiple threads but I needed a quick answer...

i have a similar vaio.
2gb is the max.putting more in would be a waste because its only going to see 2gb.theres no way around this at all.:good:

You can only use a max of 2GB of RAM in that laptop. If you are going to upgrade, you can only put in DDR2 SODIMMs. It would be a waste getting anything larger than 1GB modules.

if you have two slots then use 2x1gb ( a pair preferably) so mobo will run in dual channel

unless unlike my laptop you have 1 GB soldered to the motherboard in that case use just one more 1Gb stick other wise if one slot use 2GB stick

you also need ddr2 533mhz
