What is the optimal MTU for pppoa??

What is the optimal maximum transmision unit for PPPoA, VC MUX, VPI8, VCI 48.

I have a router that has a built in modem, i don't know if that has any effect on it.

Are you referring to Point-to-point protocol over ATM (asynchronous transfer method)? If so, then your router will typically default to the proper settings...if not, determine what yours should be set to by researching your make and model of router
