what is the problem? DUO 2 is slower than P4

I bought a laptop with Duo 2 ,1.6 Ghz processor, RAM 512, 80Gb HD with Vista. I have an old tower desktop P4 with XP. The older computer is very much faster than the new laptop. What is the problem? Is Vista making it slow? Should I go for XP?

its not just the amount of ram that just has a factor in performance its also the mhz it runs at

if its low it could be bottle necking the potential of the proccessor

add some ram, your likely running out on vista with 512, and notebooks have slower bus, ram, video cards, hdd. everythign vs their desktop equals.

plus you bought a cheaper laptop, dont expect miracles.

yes-they say you can run vista on 512 but i would say 1024 would do the lap-top better...

ive got 2048mb at 800mhz and some times i use it all, seems like vista is resorce hungry so much so im thinkin of switching to tolinux
