my computer, was bought in oct 2010, so just a few months ago. I can't name the exact specification but it's intel i5 dual core, 4GB ram, 500gb harddisk, windows 7. I don't and in fact I have never installed any games or graphic design software, i just use it for watching youtube, facebook, listening to music etc.

This few days, it always suddenly (at least 1 time a day) power off...yup, i once lost all my data suddenly. the computer does not ask me whether to save things or get out of the windows in a normal way. It just simply suddenly powers off. screen suddenly goes black, like sudden cut off of electricity but it was not....it occurs very frequently recently, at least 1 time a day or sometimes 2

I use kaspersky to check for the virus, but nothing found.......... what happen to my computer??? by the way, loading of windows is VERY VERY slow, i once thought it was because of the start up program, but after I clear them up, the situation does n't seem to have improved.

Could anyone help me? These days I have lost lots of valuable unsaved work...............and waiting waitiing waiting of loading into the windows just makes me so anxious..........

If the system is shutting down abruptly then most likely its overheating. When was the last time you opened the case and blew out all the dust, especially from around the cpu fan?

never done that....sorry, but how to blow out the dust? any small kid out there for sale?

Get a can of compressed air, keep the can upright or you will expend the liquid. Blow out the cpu fan, hold it so it don't over rpm.

Another possibility it could be is a bad hard drive. What brand of hard drive is it?

Bro i think ur cpu fan is ok. U should format the windows. Do a fresh install of windows. Then ur work will be fine.

??????????

How can you tell his fan is fine when you are probably in a different continent to the OP?

So, he does a fresh install but the problem remains, then what? Clean the fan? Much easier to do it the other way round. This problem is more likely to be hardware than software.

The best way to know if it's a hardware OR software problem is to load some external OS such as Ubuntu directly from the CD and use it to surf the WEB for the next few hours. If the computer stays on during that time, then it is NOT hardware or overheating problem. It is Windows 7 OS and it should be cleaned, repaired or reinstalled or whatever is neccessary depending on what kind of the problem OS has.

Also check the SYSTEM and CPU temperatures and make sure they do not go over 60 degrees celzius.
You can also go into BIOS and check the TEMPERATURE options and configure them to NOT shutdown the computer all until temperatures do not reach lets's say...75 degreese celzius.Of course not EVERY BIOS has this option, but you can check.
Also check that the CPU fan is spinning properly and fast. Some fans stop spinning fast enough after few minutes they started spinning and that causes the automated system shutdown in order to prevent CPU burning.
Changing the thermal paste might be neccessary ONLY if the temperatures are too high.Otherwise leave it the way it is.
Also if the GPU of the graphic card is overheating,it WILL cause the system to shutdown. So check it's temperature too.

Anyway you first check all this and let us know.
If everything seems to be okay (but it won't be since your PC turns off automatically) then we will move on...

Cheers!

I doubt any software could cause the computer to suddenly power off so I'm inclined to believe it's a hardware problem. It might be caused by overheating but it also may indicate a problem with the power supply or possibly even the motherboard.

I would try blowing out the dust as suggested but I doubt that will correct the problem. Any chance the system is still under warranty from where you bought it?

If the purchase date you stated as Oct 2010 is a typo and you actually meant Oct 2011, meaning the system is only a few months old as you say, then it should still be under warranty, I would call their tech support and let them handle it.
