Once again, out of curiosity, what is the worlds fastest CPU? I asked this question for the GPU a few seconds ago. Any ideas?

Umm that one cpu that like Georgia tech or something insanely overclocked. It was like 100GHz or something ridiculous like that.

I mean like un-overclocked and ones you could actually use in a home computer. It could be dual core or single. lets go by GHz and Gigaflops (maybe megaflops) is it's possible to tell.

I beleive the xbox360 is up there beleive it or not.. It has a triple core processor and is up to a teraflop !
The core 2 would still beat it, thats a power pc cpu, the same ones mac used to use, they are slow.

But who knows, you can't compare 360 benchmarks, if you can even benchmark it, to a cpu.

Well, to think about it, the Xbox 360 CPU is specifically for games. And the unite itself is for only games. To me a game system like Xbox, PS3 etc. are never as good as computer. Why? The answer is simple. A mouse. Although the XBox 360 Processor is really good, the PS3 is bound to be better. Lets try to think of an overall rating. ones that don't concern CPU's dedicated to processing just games. (If they process just games, then then you don't know the full potential.

The Xbox 360 is definitely not the fastest CPU.

The Core 2 Duo X6800 is the fastest right now but not in GHZ.

The fastest market CPU, with stock speeds is the Intel P4 EE at 3.8Ghz.

somebody posted something, dont know what section it was, but it was like a 500GHZ cpu, wasnt 4 a computer obvioously..

NO the ones I'm talking about are not OC'd. But they've been hard to find since the dual core came out. I saw them 2 or 3 years ago.

Intel and AMD DO NOT make desktop processors over 4Ghz. Especially if you saw this 2-3 years ago, when CPU speeds topped out at around 1-1.5Ghz.

For all I know it might have been a brand that we never herd of. I know that sounds boogis, but I know what I saw and I know it was before the dual processor. (dual had been out for MAC way before PC-I think). I saw it on www.bizrate.com under computers then CPU and 3GHz+. I went back today to see if I could find it. I guess it was too expensive to buy and useless when the Dual core came out. The years were just a guess. I can't guarantee the accuracy of my memory (lately I have a bad short term and long term memory due to medication) but despite that I KNOW what I saw.
