What is this icon?

Since having my new computer, I have been seeing a partially hidden icon on my PC's desktop. The picture will show it in the topmost, far-left corner of the desktop. It appears to have a kinship with 'Norton', but I can find no way to defeat it from within the program - neither can I move it from its location. Hopefully, someone can shed an idea on why it is there, and how I can go about permanently removing it.

Advanced thanks.

It's called a toaster...not kidding. You are running Norton Anti Virus aren't you:) Here is a quote from a Symantec Employee;

"Toasters are the little windows that show up some times when items are being processed etc... Sometimes when we create them, they are not hidden properly and you see what you are seeing, we have not been able to reproduce this behavior in house but have been trying to understand from the few that have seen it what is common amongst those systems."

The icon is a small bug in Norton and should not happen...I read about it on a few other forums, Norton really has no explanation for it. Yet one more reason not to use Norton:D

****EDIT****

By the way...go here and get a cool background, that blue has to go;)

Thanks Scout.

You know...I never did like Norton, and the only reason that it is on my system is because of the fact that a 60-day trial of it was on my computer when I bought it. I am very seriously considering uninstalling it, and using a freebie (such as the AVG-Free that we have on the other 3 PC's here).

But thanks, again, for your input.
