What is this pci card? Please help

Hi,
I just bought a pc tower from cash converters, marked as (parts only) for $50
Inside there was no hard drive but there was
motherboard ASUS K8V-X SE,
graphics card POINT OF VIEW FX5500 256MB
ram PC2 5300U-555-12-D1.512MB
2 x dvdrw and 1 x cdrw drives
and a small pci card, measuring about 40mm hight 110mm length
the input slot on the face looks kinda like a usb but thinner and wider
it has a red board with alot of letters and numbers but nothing that looks like a model number or part number. on the back there is a white sticker only that reads N11360 on the top and accd90503139
CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME IDENTIFY THIS CARD AND ITS PURPOSE?

yep, thats probably it.

does it look anything like this?
if it does, it allows you to attach an external SATA hard drive. maybe thats why it didnt come with a hard drive?

YEAH THATS IT!!!
you guys are great,................afterthought,.....does it need a esata cable from pci card to an external hard drive and why is esata neccessary?...I mean all the external hard drives Ive seen are standard usb.....
I thankyou for your answers and apologies for the novice questions.

Some external hard drives support eSata connections. Some are USB, yes, some are firewire, some are eSata, some support a combination or all of those.

To use it, you will need an eSata cable, yes, which aren't the same shape as standard sata cables, so you can't just use one of those with an internal hard drive
