I bought a brand new 1 TG Western Digital HD and put new install of Win 7. Have trouble getting all the updates loaded, when I closed down for the night, it would say "Do not turn off your machine, Updates are loading 1 of 155". I thought, Come on, gimme a break. But I let it run and when it got to 17 it froze up. Powered it off and the next day, It says "DNTOYM" again Installing updates. I could do other things like put my Word program back on etc. Next night: "DNTOYM", installing updates 1 of 25. I let it run all night. But couldn't power it back on the next day.
Finally got it where it will power on and it said there is an update that is affecting my power management system. Download this Toshiba Infineon TPM update and install. Did that and it's there but when you check the status of the computer it shows: Chip state: disabled, Owner state: not initialized, User state: not initialized. This is in the location where the TPM is but none of the buttons can be changed, they are all greyed out. I have a feeling this Toshiba TPM thing is for a laptop. Mine is a older MPC desktop running Win 7.
I installed Avast and Tdsskiller and they don't come up with anything. But something is causing the computer is to either go to sleep (even though I have it set as "never"). It freezes up in the middle of running a program, at the very top of the screen is some ...---... , sometimes the whole screen has these morse code symbols all over the screen & when it does that I lose my mouse. I have to manually power it off and then I get the safe mode screen.
Tried using safe mode to find out what the problem is but can't locate it.
Anybody got any ideas, I only have re-installed 6 or 8 of my regular programs like Photoshop, Word, MSmoney, Avast, Incredimail (my email program).
I think I finally got the huge number of updates installed when I went to Microsoft and installed SP3. The only problem listed now is the TPM enigma.
I'll try to attach that TPM download. No, it won't let me attach the file.
