Hi All,

First Post!
Well, I usually play games on my machine. (Not high end). eg, NFS:Underground, Joint Operations, Mashed, The Sims 2.
I get low frames with settings on low/medium.

What is wrong or what can I do to make it better with and without purchasing?

------------------------------------------

eMachines 390
2.3ghz Intel Celeron Processor w/ 128kb Cache
1024mb DDR PC2200 RAM (2x 512)
256mb GeForce 5200 (PCI Version)
80gb Harddrive 7,200rpm
Wanadoo 2mbps Broadband
DVD-ROM & CD-RW Drives.

-----------------------------------------

My procedures daily:
Tune Up Utilities 2006 Disk Cleanup
Norton Systemworks 2004 One Click Maitenance & Internet Cleanup
Registry Mechanic 5 Scan
O&O Defragment 8 Defrag.
Webroot SpySweeper 4 Scan

----------------------------------------

Why is my PC getting around 12fps on The Sims 2 or 8fps on Joint Ops.
Settings are low/medium???

Thanks for any help,
Michael Stokes

spyware scan, virus scan, stop background programs like trizoy said, type msconfig in run and disable the startups. Or you can OC your videocard but i'm not sure how much that'll do.

I am asking what I can do, not what I already know! lol.

Its just really weird,

My friend with this spec:

1.7ghz Intel Pentium 4
256mb RAM
64mb GeForce 2 MX400

Can run programs better than mine which I find astonoshing!!!

PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME

P4's have more cash memory then Celerons.
I could also be that his GF2 MX400 is using an Agp slot and yours is running a slower PCI slot but it's not likely.
How hot is your CPU and other components running?
Update your video card drivers.
I would also download hijack this and post the log file in the computer security forum.
EDIT:This is what they want when you post your hijack this log. http://www.computerforum.com/showthread.php?t=24672

the celeron is definately an issue, so is the card.
judging by your daily schedule i would guess that you take good care of your OS.
when i had a 5200 i actually noticed a slight drop in performance over my old 4200 ti, i would guess your card would be a little faster than your friend's.
i wouldn't like to guess how comparable you and your friends CPU is.

if you really want to try something that doesn't involve spending money try formatting and reinstalling your operating system
