they are basically the same as desktop, with exceptions to like Pentium M n others where its modified to provide better battery usage, thus the lower ghz. but it matches with like a pentium 4. correct me if im wrong.

I would try Dell or go to newegg.com
do NOT get a winbook or emachine.

True, some Pentium M chips got better performance over the P4 chips. You'll also find some P4 chips, celeron, AMD XP, Sempron and Turion in laptop machines as well. Pentium M still outperforms them. As of this month, you'll be seeing some dual core processors from Intel coming out, too.
