Ok, so here is what I found. I still can’t figure out the brand of the computer or what type of memory. It is OED but I’m not sure what type, brand, or anything?

I still don’t know if I can upgrade and if so, what can I upgrade this is to?

I appreciate your help!

Thanks,
Justin

It's not my computer. I have a nice computer. I got this at a garage sale and I was just going to give to my my for email and occasional web surfing. However, I'd like to at least upgrade the memory a bit if possible.

I thought I was fairly computer literate but I can't even identify the memory on this. What section is it. Is it EDO? What is the max I can upgrade this to?

Try looking for an "FCC ID" number the out side of the PC or on the MB. If you can find one, the do a search for it on the FCC website here. If your lucky it may be able to tell you the manufactures name & contact details for the Laptop.

Cant see much on the pic, but you could try removing the metal EMI sheilding and look for any other places under it on the MB that the RAm could go.

It could just be the picture but I don't think I see RAM slots anywhere, have you checked on the other side? (usually the RAM goes in on the bottom so it's easy to get at)

I will check that when I get home. The metal sheeting seemed to be on there pretty good. Is it safe to try to remove?

Thanks,
Justin

Try Cromewell's sugestion first. then if no luck try taking it off. As long as your carfull and dont short anything out you should be fine.... dont have the power plugged in, remove the battery aswell if posible, dont let anything 'conductive' like metal touch the Circuit boards.

Oh, and try to remember how everything goes back together :D

isn't the plate I'm taking off metal? It seems almost impossible to do so without touching any boards. It looks like a game of operation.

Yeah, I tend to think that laptops usually are...
Back on to your question, there should be one or two little "doors" that have a screw in them that you should be able to take off on the bottom of the laptop. Inside there should be your sticks of RAM. Based on the speed of the processor, I would GUESS that you have probably PC100 RAM with a max of either 64MB per slot or 128MB if you're lucky. But, don't count on that until we know for sure what the type of RAM is that you have in there...

If it is a 'new' socket 7 based board it may support SD RAM but chances are you will be using EDO

I got an FCC number of EJH5026 or EJH 5026
I used this link but did not find anything.
I used yahoo and found a few listings but they were either motherboard memory or 16MB which doesn't help.

There was also a phone number in which I called but they weren't real helpful. 800-367-7794

Any other suggestions. I'd like to be able to just find out where the memory goes, what type, and if I can get it to at least 128 MB.

Any suggestions are more than welcomed!

Thanks again!

OK, I think I found the exact computer.

So, if I read this correctly, I cannot upgrade it higher than 64 MB of ram?

Also, what kind of memory does it take? EDO, RAM. what the hell is a DIMM socket and where is it on this computer?

I guess if someone lets me know that 64 is the highest it will go, it doesn't really matter since it's already there.

Thanks again for the help!
