im new to this pc stuff. but i am willing to learn. i want to upgrade my pc. on the system info page it says i have 128MB and 256SDRAM. can someone explain what is the diff in the two? I found the memory chip on my system and it says 128MB so if i wanted to add more memory just how do i do this do i get 256SDRAM chip or what?

You should have a look at how many RAM slots you have unused. If you don't have any left, then you will have to take out (eg. 128Mb) to put in another 256Mb instead. As far as I know, SD-RAM is relatively cheap.

You can get a 256MB PC133 SDRAM on www.newegg.com for around $30-$35. (its a bit more expensive then DDR)

But do what Elite said, make sure that you have an available slot, and that your motherboard will support it.

You might be able to get a 512SDRAM if your mtherboard supports it, what motherboard do you have? and Elite SD-RAM is more expensive then DDR.

well honestly i dont know what kind of mobo i have right now, my system is a dell and i dont know how to ID the mobo, maybe you can help me with that. so you mean there's more than just throwing in a 512 memory chip? if my mobo doesnt support it it wont work is that it?

but you are shur its SDRAM, and not DDR SDRAM? :) and SDRAM isnt relavively chep.. over here its even more expensive as the pc3200 RAM. :)
