What kind of video card is this?

i went to computer store to buy 2 video cards 1- 128MB for my brothers PC (he's not a gamer) and 2- for myself 256MB (I'm a big gamer).
however, i saw 2 kind of video card one 256MB with steel and fan and the other is the same but without fan, and after this i confused they are the same series so why one has a fan and the others not, is it that the video card with fan stronger than the one without a fan

all i want to know......WHATS THE DEFERENCE?

i do not know much about computers though:rolleyes:

On just has a heatsink with fan included and one does not. Unless the price is very different, go with the one that has the fan.

models designed without fans are meant to be noiseless for people who cant stand the fan noise. they generally run hotter, and cant perform as well as one that is cooled with a fan.
and if you are running a larger display that has more than a 1376x768 resolution (this is just my personal preference) I'd pickup a card with 512mb of physical memory, however, like Aziek said, the model would help us :)

The fan's aren't that loud if that's what you ment. It's actually pretty quite if you think about it...

I've seen Turbo-cooled computers. They go so high pitch, it's not even funny how bad it is for your ears.

well the 128MB it's "NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200" since i will bought it for my little brother he is not that gamer yet so 128MB is good for watching movies.....etc
1- NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 with fan 59.99$
2- NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 without fan 49.99$
they are the same series but why it without fan, is it because the one without fan isn't strong enough, besides i don't want to buy the one without fan and when i start using it, it will be not good.
or maybe like what they said "that it's because the preference of people who doesn't like the noise of fan"
i need some help here T_T

and for the 256MB i decided to buy the one with fan since i play a lot of games ^_^

how about this, what is your computer called, because those video cards will still not allow you to play any game that came out after AGE OF EMPIRES III, back in 03 or 04 i think, and those games will still lag you to death.

please don't change the topic (128MB for my little brother not for me)
i need someone to tell me is there deference between NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 fan and without fan

First of all, he was just trying to help, not "change the topic" and second of all, someone has already answered your question.

They're the same, one...has a fan...and the other...doesn't. There's no other difference.

Don't be fooled by video memory (VRAM). That is not a good measure of a cards performance. Which models did you get?

thanks thats what i want to hear
and i will chose the one with fan

you see, we're trying to help you save 50 bucks. that card cant really play many games on it. the fan or fanless part right now is irrelevant, we've solved that one, we're just offering advice, and it is to not buy that card :) there's plenty of other for maybe 50 dollars more that can get you playing many more games than that, and with a higher quality than that one can.

for example :

8600GT -- only $25 more.

or

This ATI x1550pro if you have a PCI slot rather than PCIe. only $36 more.

or even this

ATI x1650pro if you have an AGP slot. only $19.99 more than the one you picked out.

These 3 cards will all play much more than the 5200 will :)
