What memory type is better?

I think I know the answer to this but I'll ask anyway.

Which would be better?

1024megs (2x512 dc) running at 533mhz 4 latency

or

1280megs (2x512dc, 1x256) running at 400mhz 3 latency

I assume the 1280 would improve performance greater

If its mainly for gaming, then yes, i would go with the 1280MB DDR400, since you have more ram, and a lower CL. The DDR533 however would be much better if your using it for anything other than gaming.

Actually it would be more for music recording. I'm talking about laying tracks down, not copying cds or anything.

Cas 3 is pretty bad for PC3200 400MHz memory, how much are you able to spend here?
If you could get 1280MB 400MHz CAS 2 that would be the best, and you can still get ValueRAM with CAS 2.
