Hi all,

I am going to upgrade my system this week. But I have no clue what mobo I should take? :-(

I will get an E6850, 2 GB (667) RAM plus a 8600 GTS. And I want a mobo which can handle SLI, cause I am planing to put in another GTS soonish.

Which mobo can u guys recommend? I am looking for on ein the midprice range and I won't do to much overclocking anyway...

Cheers,

Fabipavi

my advice is to not get a dual core at this point. the quad core Q6600 is cheaper, and beats the E6850 in benchmarking. TomsHardware.com

if you look there, on CPU intensive programs, and on 3DMark, the Q6600 is better all-around

3DMark06 CPU Test

the E6850 and the Q6600 are both in red.

You also might want to wait for the new Intel Quads . They will be out in Jan. 08 and will run cooler and be better. I have the E6850 and it a good cpu , but I'm also upgrading in Jan. to the Q9550. You could either buy the Q6600 or a cheaper C2D and wait like me.Also I had good luck with the Asus P5N32E-Sli board it's just picky with memory, and alot of people here use Gigabyte boards.

The nVidia 650i and 680i are good SLi chipsets. What's the most you're willing to spend?

I'd get a cheaper C2D or Q6600 to tide you over, until the new intel processors come out. Also, go for a motherboard with a nvidia 680i chipset, maybe something like this : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188019

Also, don't get 2 8600 gts in sli, spend the difference and get a 8800 series. Because 2 8600 gts will cost you more than a 8800 gts, and an 8800 gts will give you better performance. That's just my 2 cents though.

im gonna have to research some of theese intel chips...lol unless it has x2 in front of it, i dont know what you guys are talking about... they all bench real well maybe my next build might be intel unless amd pulls a rabbit out of their hat....(sorry not trying to jack the thread..)

A chipset is a group of integrated circuits, or chips, that are designed to work together, and are usually marketed as a single product . You have Intel , Nvidia , etc. chipsets that make up the motherboard.
