What monitors are better for XBOX 360? Computer monitors or LCD TVs?

is it true that computer LCD monitors are better than LCD TVs for xbox? a friend told me to go for a computer LCD monitor (one built for gaming) instead of a normal LCD TV, because most computer monitors have lower input lags & lower response times compared to LCD TVs. i was quite clueless as he was tellin me this, because i didn't even know you could use a computer monitor on an xbox 360.

i have no idea what input lags/response times are, but my friend told me that high input lags are bad espeically if you're gaming online like xbox live or something. he sed if your online and your enemies have lower input lags, they're more likely to kill you first. i obviously don't want that to happen.

this is all new to me, i obviously don't know what to get. but i would like a monitor that is extremely good for online gaming, especially FPS games like call of duty for xbox live. plz help. thanx in advanced!

I have a PS3 that i use on my computer LCD samsung 23" and also on a plasma tv Panasonic Viera 50" both plugged in hdmi 1920x1080 Full HD and from what i can tell the bigger the better when it comes to consoles.

It really depends on your budget.

As a really general rule, the PC monitors are better value for money. If you had $300 to spend on a screen. You will usually get a higher resolution and lower response time from a monitor than TV.

However spend enough and you can get a 1080p TV, with 1ms response time and 200hz which would blow most monitors out of the water.

When gaming and playing FPS there will be 5 key factors you should be concerned with and all far to complicated to go into any particular detail.

1. Response Time - This is the time between the PC sending the signal and the screen actually displaying it.
2. Refresh Rate - This is the rate screen generates/refreshes and image.
3. Resolution - The amount of pixels on the screen, with improved resolution comes finer detail and the ability to see distant objects.
4. Contrast Ratio - The difference between light and dark colours. Low contrast may make detail hard to make out in low or high light areas.

The afore can usually be seen within the products detailed specification, however do not forget the below.

5. Colour Representation - Many screens do not display colours accurately, the only way to see if a monitor you are looking at is any good is by reading reviews.​

Some more points to consider.

• There are two types of contrast ratio; Static and Dynamic
• Before purchasing a monitor make sure it has an HDMI port so you can actually connect it to your Xbox
• Many manufacturers have started bringing out ranges if monitor TVs in the past 12 months. You may wish to look into buying one of these, after looking online for about 15 hours I finally came to the conclusion that the best value/performance for your money was the LGM2362D.
