Hey there,

a colegue of mine is looking for a new AM2 motherboard.

His budget is $130 USD, what MB would you suggest for that budget

I'm running the Asus M2N-E AM2 model here about to see 4gb rather then 2gb of DDR2 800 memory. Newegg should see that for less. But the Asus support doesn't list Vista only as new as XP for drivers there and on the software disk.

For the nForce chipset and other drivers for onboard controllers the MS update site or going to nvidia.com for the chipset solves that one. But $84.99US takes it away at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131022

I will state that the board in now here was the second after the first quit following 3 days use. Newegg readily shipped the replacement right out when that was returned. The main thing is what model cpu will be run on it? For a Phenom going with an AM2+ would be a thought especially if Vista is the version of Windows.
 
Gee? Now I'm thinking about swapping out boards here since the MSI model seen at the link here sees 3 PCI slots instead of the usual 2 for tuner and video capture devices. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130182

While it's still another Asus model here as a thought the M3N78 Pro also sees 3 PCI slots. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131320

Theses also see PCI-E 2.0 support there. But it will also depend on the type of build the board will be used for. That can help narrow the list.
