Hi.

I'm planning to build my own PC. I already have a mouse, keyboard, speakers
and a monitor,

I'm planning build my PC by using Intel Core 2 duo E6300 or maybe athlon- whichever one that is good for gaming.

What brands-models should I get for this- under 800-900$ to make parts compatible to CPU?

The top brands generally are Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, and DFI for boards. Asus and MSI also have their own brand video cards avaialble. For finding a board for the new line of Intel cpus plan on spending a little more then $100USD for a new model board. It will also depend on where you "shop". If i were you i'd build a C2D system, best gaming out there!! get something like the Gigabyte 965P DS3 (mobo), it seems to be a very good card and i hear is very overclockable...
