What negative impact will deleting all the files in the windows messenger folder have

Okay, so windows messenger doesn't have an uninstall file. Is there a way to 'manually' uninstall it? For example, if I went my computer -> program files. then selected the messenger folder, and deleted all its files, would that work? And would it have any effects on other programs?


OS is windows XP professional
 
If you delete the folder it's in still has startup and registry entries which will become useless.
