What processors will fit my motherboard?

I checked the motherboard forums and the CPU/overclocking forums to see if those would be the right places for this but they didn't seem like it. Its kinda about both. So I figured I'd ask here.

I need to upgrade my processor(well.. Actually I just need a whole new computer.. But that won't happen anytime soon). My processor is an Intel processor and I'm almost 100% sure my motherboard is an Intel as well.

My current processor is an Intel Celeron 1.7GHz. I had a 2.something that I was going to put in this tower but I ****ed up and bent a few of the little prong things and don't know if bending them back would be worth the trouble.

I don't know what model my motherboard is but its old. I'm looking in the same place I was checking my processor and it doesn't say(unless it calls it a BIOS?).

I've Googled around and cant find any information about what type of processors will fit in an Intel motherboard. I was looking at Intel processors to buy(lower end ones. Not only can I not afford nice things. It would be pointless to buy for this piece of crap).

Intel Processors aren't really that expensive(at least not the ones I saw). But if I can get a cheaper brand that will fit my motherboard that would help out a lot. I have an income of $20 a month for cleaning my grandmother's house(I'm only 17. I know its still pathetic that I don't have a job. But I suppose it would be better than a completely grown man without a job. Not trying to offend anyone either btw. Just saying I know its pathetic that that's what my income is).

Edit: Really sorry if this is the wrong place btw. Not sure if CPU/Overclocking was just about overclocking them :/

Its probably socket 478. But without knowing what board it is, there is no way of knowing what 478 processors it supports. Look at the board itself for a make and model.

this is fine here, no worries.

as far as the cpu, is this a store bought computer, cuz we need to know what model it is before we can say what it can use. there are tons of cpu sockets and then not all motherboards support all cpus that go with its socket.

My dad gave it to me. He found it in a recycling bin and it was better than the one I had. So he gave it to me. Well.. Everything but the processor was better.

Where about on a motherboard does it say what model it is. I'm pretty sure it says Intel on it. It should just be around that shouldn't it?

Edit.. Guess its an Asus o.o Says Asus ASM58 Mozart-2. Would that be what I'm looking for?

Alright. After trying to Google around for Asus ASM58 Mozart-2 I found out that this probably isn't my motherboard model.. Then I found big letters by where my video would go if this piece of shit had one and it says P4BGL-MX.

Would that be the model for the motherboard? After using Google I found this page...

http://www.asus.com/999/html/events/mb/socket478/p4bgl-mx-533/overview.htm

If that is my motherboard then any Celeron processor should work right? I think it also mentions P4 processors or something...
