thanks ill check it out and hey im uploading a video that is 1280x720 res in youtube but not 19:9 ratio.... will it still be in wide screen? or do it have to be 19:9 ratio too?

From my experience with youtube it keeps aspect ratios as they are... don't quote me on that though.

so.... pretend i have original source of:
- raw file
- 1080x820 res
- 4:1 ratio

and i encode it to:
- xvid, mp4 container
- 1280x720 res
- original ratio

.....now does it be in wide screen when upload to youtube?

and also does a container matter? say mp4 container matter of picture quality? or container dont matter?

english no good.

and say original is 4:1 ratio.... and i encode it to 16:9 ratio... would that make the picture quality decrease?

You'd probably better ask someone else, 'cause I'm not sure. :P Youtube should keep your aspect ratio though.

Have you tried using SUPER? It is free, it does all kinds of conversions, it gives you all sorts of flexibility in what settings you want to use etc...
Check it out. It rocks and I can't believe it is free!

To test quality and aspect ratio after conversion, I recommend you do different tests with a small video file. That way you can compare the end results of different settings and see what YOU like best.

The website design is terrible, but the software is great!

Link to download SUPER: http://www.erightsoft.info/GetFile.php?SUPERsetup.exe

If you want to split a video (for example to have a short version for testing purposes with SUPER) use this freeware: http://www.doeasier.org/splitter/
You basically select the section you want to pull out of a video and it does it in seconds because it does not need to render the whole thing again. Very practical to have.
