my computer has 4 slots, 2 are being taken up by a 1 gig stick in each. the 2 slots that are being used are red, the other remaining 2 slots are yellow. why? and by buying 2 other sticks of ram for the yellow ones, will it work with the 2 red ones already in? i realize vista 32 bit only sees 3 gbs. but i still would like to have 4 in there just incase i decide to make the jump to 64. im just wondering why there are 2 red slots and 2 yellow slots, and not just all red or just all yellow?.

also these are the ram sticks im thinking of buying: will they work in my pc?

This is for the system in your signature yes? That RAM should work, but I don't know what kind of RAM you have now and it would be best to match it.

The coloured slots are indicators for dual channel. You put RAM in the same coloured slots and the memory controller will try to run them in dual channel

thanks for the reply.

yes that is for the pc in my sig. i beleive the ram in it is just "acer" ram, which came with the computer
