what really stinks

It stinks that i cant get a static ip unless i want to move into the buisness class level. I mean what if i want to make a home mail server or somethign, i dont want to pay $100 just so i can get a static. I wouldent mind paying $10 or so extra to stay on my home plan and buy a static. how hard can it be... Ugh sorry just had to vent because i really want a static and comcast would charge $100 for there starter buisness class internet. :mad:
 
i do, but i want to setup a real domain, and you cant have a mail server with a dynamic, you get blacklisted instantly
 
well then they should, what does having a 1.5 Mb upload do if you dont use it to serve... ugh i wish they would care for others but their selves :P

Well unfortunately it isn't necessarily Comcasts fault that you can't use a dynamic IP for a mail server without getting blocked. I run a personal FTP server from my Comcast connection and it works fine, its just that mail servers are abused by spammers.

thats the whole point, they dont want you doing things like running mail servers or FTP or webservers
 
yeah i know... its just disipointing how the interent being free is loosing its meaning... oh well.

yeah. i guess that is the benefit of ipv6 is that everyone will have like 5×10^28 addresses but it will be a pain in the butt to remember everything

it won't be a wise move for ISP to allow you to have those kind of service as it will affect them.I don't think that will change in a long while you just have to accept reality
