what security programmes ahould i have on pc?

Im about to receive a new pc im on a tight budget so will be going for those that are free,im thinking of getting

Avast
malwarebytes

will these be sufficient,also does anyone have a secure link to take me to the genuine hijackthis site so i can download it

it willbe a vista pc is it a good idea to get firefox for my browser or are there drawbacks to this

Malwarebytes is really good. I sometimes use Superantispyware in combination with Malwarebytes.

Use any free virus program, AVG, Avira, or Avast.

I would humbly suggest Spybot: Search & Destroy.

Hey, first the mozilla firefox is really good idea to get it as your browser. I would also suggest get Spybot Search & Destroy which is free. I dont really like Avast because when i had it my pc was running slow with it. I'll never use it again. You can also get AVG anti-virus. It's free also.
