ok so I asumming you plan on using the ram and HD you have already. I also assuming that you have ddr ram otherwise you really going to need to buy new ram.

MOBO:http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-128-263&depa=1
$116
CPU:http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=19-103-501&DEPA=1
$156
DVDRW: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=27-152-032&DEPA=0
$63
Floppy: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=21-152-005&depa=1
$7
video card: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-289&depa=1 ( I would of liked to chose a better video card for gamming but it hard on a $500 budget)
$92

Total: $435

Leaving $65 for case and PSU

The nice part about the parts I chose is in the future there is plenty of room for you to be able to upgrade it.

I did this pretty quickly so am not saying this the best you can do but I would at least try to build something on the level of what I showed.

you also have a choice of a cheaper cpu/mobo combination for a better graphic card. I personally would go with a good cpu/mobo combination giving you better option for upgrade in the future.

So those are the only things you need? you dont need dvd or floppy drive because if this is true this leaves a good amount of extra money for a better graphic card.

I would try to go for a graphic card like this

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-130-220&depa=1

but that might be out of range mix that with the cpu and mobo I chose that leaves only $43 for case and psu and I have not added shipping in.

something like this might be more in the budget

To estimate the total cost put all the parts in a shopping cart at newegg then tell it to estimate the shipping cost. This will give you a good idear of what you can afford.

you can also shop around and look for better prices. newegg usually have fair prices but sometimes you can find else where cheaper. I just use newegg to show you since it easy for me to find stuff there and they have a large selection.

What do you mean out of range mix. I'm building a com also and was looking at this video card with the ASUS "K8N". It's been so long since I've upgraded my computer I feel like a newbe.
