SAS drives are more for business grade hardware typically. Although as you pointed out they are pretty similar to normal SATA.

beers Moderator Staff member Dec 10, 2019 #4 Yep, SAS. You can use SATA drives in a SAS environment but not SAS drives with a SATA controller
