What The Heck Is This?

Yea, its me again guys. I hope you all are not getting sick of my stupid questions yet, because i have another one.

I was given a Dell 2400 computer which was said to have been lightning damaged by a buddy of mine. In an attampt to fix it, i have swapped out the PSU and tested the CPU in my computer, both seem to be ok but still when hitting the power button on the computer its still flat dead. I am assuming the damage is somewhere in the Motherboard, so i thought i would look over NewEgg and see if i could find an "El~Cheap-O" MB to put in its place, but i have not found anything that strikes me as being a close match. I have also looked everywhere i can think of loking for the part number on the board, with no luck. This board has onboard video, and no AGP slot, but would like to replace it with a board with an AGP slot.

I guess my question is, will "any" board i pick out that is Micro ATX in size work with this machine as long as it is a 478 socket like the other board?

This machine came with 258mgs of PC 2700 ram, and a P4 chip which i dont know what it is. If anyone can help me identify this chip please tell me what this is, and what motherboard i will need to make it work. Here is what is printed on back of the chip...

Intel Pentium P4
2.66ghz/512/533 (Does this mean it is a 533 FSB?)
SL6PE Costa Rica
3349A886
4350B886
2250

This is the board i have been looking at, will someone tell me if this will work ...

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

You should be ok if you exchange the power supply and mobo. We can only hope the RAM and any other cards have not been damaged.

Some dell's have special powr supplies, but seeing as this one's blown, you should be fine(then again, that could be why it didn't power up for you!)

I don't know the exact size, but I would assume a standard board would work. Heck, why not get a cheap case with a power supply and just use what's still good from that old computer rather than worry about it ;)

256, not 258

2.66GHz, 512k Cache, 533MHz FSB

URL's dead

unless you swapped in a Dell compatible PSU, you'll need a new mobo too

for the most part... yes.

2.66ghz/512/533 (does this mean it is a 533 FSB?)
the chip is a Pentium4 2.66 Northwoodb with a 133mhz FSB (533mhz bus)

link dont work

2.66ghz, 512k cache, 533mhz FSB
CPU 101. See distinction between coreclock/fsb and BUS speed :)

Thanks

I appreciate the help guys, and i am really thankful for the link to CPU101. I have been reading all those links a little at a time and trying to learn all i can about different hardware and where to get the biggest bang for the buck.

I will soon order that board and put it in the dell hoping to get it working, but my main objective is to build my first computer myself. I have already gotten a new case but nothing else until i decide which would be the best parts to use. I have narrowed the Motherboard choice down to either the Premium ASUS or the DFI Lanparty board for a 939 AMD chip of some sort, unless someone else has a better suggestion.

As soon as i get the new computer built, i wanna learn how to overclock, and push what i have to the limits without overheating. The computer i am using now is an Intel 2.539 chip, with a ATI X800XL video card, and just am getting about 3800 score in 3DMark 2005. Needless to say i am looking for a major improvement over what i have now, and i have noticed most of the big numbers with 3DMark 2005 are made with an AMD chip. After seeing this, i am sure AMD is where i am going, this will be my first trip away from Intel.
