I just put a new mobo, processer into a computer, mobo is a mach speed PT88bsspro EC, cpu is a celeron 355 3.33ghz 533fsb socket 775.

I was having some problems, and it was recomended to format and re-install, so i figured i'd just upgrade to sata at the same time, now every time i try to install xp, it either doesn't detect hd, or it freezes while loading drivers, anyone have any ideas?

You need to install the raid/sata drivers. Put in the WIN cd, and press f6 when prompted to. Plop in the A: disk and load the drivers. Then it will be fine.

What kind of keyboard do you have? Does it work?

Does it allow you to go into bios by pressing the appropriate key? If the Keyboard is USB, it might have problems. Try a Regular keyboard if you have one.

you need to have a SATA driver set on a floppy disk inserted into your floppy disk drive when you boot from the windows CD in order to specify the device so that windows can install it

Keyboard works fine, and it's not usb, i don't have a floppy w/sata drivers on it either, i'm starting to wonder if mobo, or cpu are defective.

You need to get the drivers either from the CD that came with your motherboard or from the manufacturer's website and then put them onto a floppy disk

It is not defective, it 100% needs the drivers.

Okay, i loaded drivers to floppy, loaded them during win setup, and at 'setup is starting windows' screen, the computer just hangs.
