What to choose? G5 or Pentium D?

Hi everyone, i'm trying to figure out what computer to buy. I work with music production and I'm in desperate need of a better computer. I've been offered to buy a second hand PowerMac G5 dual 2gHz with 1.5GB RAM. But I'm not sure wether to choose this or to upgrade my current PC with a Pentium D 3.4gHz and 2GB of RAM. The PC solution is less than half the price of he mac, but what will give me more power? Any ideas?
 
If you're going to get a Macintosh, get an Intel based one. I read some reviews a little while back and the Intel ones did a good bit better than the G5 model. Particually better when loaded with Windows XP...

Besides this, I'm sure the PC would give you more options with software.
 
Current specs are P4 1.8GHz, 512MB RAM...

I'd love to get an Intel Mac, but the issue at the moment is money. The secondhand G5 mentioned is in the top end of my budget, so it would either be that one or a pc upgrade..
