What to do? Questions regarding buying a gaming PC and life in general

I have no friend

Hi, I used to have a neat gaming set. I bought a package with spare parts. It was a pre-built package you assembled. Well, one year later it has broken down. Power problems since it kept rebooting. Sometimes it did work for some minutes then rebooted again. The DVD-tray didn't work at all. Never knew if it was the CPU, GPU, power supply thingy, RAM or whatever. Don't feel like buying new parts to find out. Makes me wonder if I shouldn't have gotten a pre built one from Dell or something.

Anyway, the thing is that I need a computer to play games. It's my way to escape my life. I have aspergers and I'm a 25 year old virgin, et c. I personally believe that everyone has their own hell. (Even rich people with hot wives and small children commit suicide.) We just have to work, make money so we can do shit to make time go faster, most people travel and socialize, I play computer games.

I intend to wait one or two months for the following reasons:
* Increasing budget.
* Finishing education.
* Playing 24/7 when Summer comes. (Well, 18 hours a day, with sleep and eating.)

Most importantly, I need to research. I want a killing gaming set, with maybe a 2000 USD budget. With 3D and a new screen.

Got any idea on how to research? Is reading threads here enough? Should I read monthly PC papers? How to learn?

Questions about building? Ask us, there are around 40000 members here. Questions about life? Not the forum. I will build a parts list, just wait a couple hours, I have to do some stuff. Killer gaming rig for $2000.

Well, I will buy it in May/June. Will things change till then? Not just Ivy Bridge, but things like SSD 2 TB replacing HDD 2 TB?

I don't want to be mean but you sound like my step-brother. When it comes to life, it's easier to get off your computer and go out to meet new people. Hiding behind a computer screen will get boring at some point even if it's a sweet 3D setup.

As for a $2,000 budget, the guys here should be able to assist you with a really nice 3D setup for that price. :)

GPU: NVIDIA GTX 680 on Amazon.com $500

$2000

PC case is a personal preference, if you want a different one, make sure it supports extended ATX motherboards (e-atx) because the mobo is a e-atx. EVGA can make a mobo, let me tell you. The monitor is 3D and comes with glasses and is 23 inch. The gpu (graphics card) is 3D ready and is so powerful, you won't need 2 gpu's. Literally, fastest gpu in the world.

No need to waste $ on a Full Tower case. Mid Tower is just fine. Get a Carbide 500R, which is much better quality and use the $70 to get a Mushkin Enhanced Chronos 120GB SSD (only $125).

Full tower is required for that mobo! It is e-atx, remember that, full atx with e-atx support! Or super ATX. A super ATX is huge, huge, and more huge, I have one, Hi quality case, used, old, but awesome! It won't fit my desk and it ways 40 pounds, it's under my desk, I would highly recommend a xaser VI, $120 and new, mine is 2003, xaser vi is 2010. Xaser iii is the reason my rig is the Woolly Mammoth.

it can be done better, and perform far superior on a 2k budget.

Z77 is superior to Z68, and at about the same price too.

Gaming wise there is little if any difference made by hyperthreading on a quad core CPU. Your wasting money going for the i7.

Retarded economic move to buy a overclocking processor and not cool it properly. The intel solution in the box is barely enough to run it stock.

in this price range, and as cheap as RAM is, just max it now with a matching set. You might not use it all, but it is there if you need it.

The speed takes care of the price.

looks cool, and has great cooling and ok cable management. Case is end user choice, but this is great for the price.

(HDD) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148844
for the price it can not be beat. 3TB is more than enough unless your storing the CIA data banks, then you might need 2.

(GPU) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130768
Currently out of stock. This card is equal in power to a 590 and above the 7970. Basically it is the dictator of GPUs currently. It should run 1 3D monitor well. You will need 2 to run more. (ram and power limitation. 1080p 3D takes same power as 2x 1080p 2D monitors).

Should be plenty for everything here. Good brand and reasonable price.

You have to use pro when using more than 16 GB of ram, and I have you set up with 18 GB including the GPU. So you need it, but it is only $40 more.

you have $144 left in the budget to get your DVD drive. Just grab the cheapest you can find, they all do the same thing.

Antec 1100 supports eATX, you dont need a full tower necessarily, just a good solid case, id highly recommend the antec 1100 due to features, and simplicity.

Sounds like you need to go to a Strip Club/Mall/Grocery Store to meet a woman lol, instead of building a computer.

I agree that custom built computers are better. But my old one broke down, and I don't know what caused it. And repearing it costs just as much as buying a new set.

If you buy a pre built one you don't have to deal with shit like that since the insurance will take care of it.
