to install a motherboard?

As I scratched my restore disks, instead of splashing out money on a new set of cds ive decided to replaced my motherboard and cos of its shitty installation.

Where im stuck is how to actually install it? Ok connecting the hardware is gonna be easy... but what settings commands do i need to go thru. I tried installing a motherboard on my dads computer but it just wouldnt start up windows properly so we ended up handing it in to sumone.

Is there a step by step guide on how to do it?

Do I have to do something with jumpers the reason why i say this is with my dads computer when i handed it in to a shop the guy said that its not that simple you need to reset your jumpers or something along them lines.

is it almost the same mobo, if not, you need a new/reformatted hdd, as it prolly wont be able to run it plug and play style

if you mean physical install, see the manual. if you mean OS install, have a look at this

do i need to wipe the hard drive before i fit the motherboard?
No. You have the option of doing that during OS install :)
