I wanna do an upgrade to my recently built computer, and Im not sure what would be the best upgrade: Faster CPU or High Perfomance ram?

My Rig: MSI K9N Diamond mobo
AMD AM2 3800 @2.0(stock)
2x1gb ddr2 533 pc4200
Geforce7950gt ko 512 mb
Audigy 2Zs sound card
WD 500gb sataII
Acer 22" widescreen.

The mobo can support up to ddr2 pc6400 which is what I was looking at for around $300. Or a faster CPU (AM2 5000+) about the same price. Which is gonna give me the best bang for my buck. Any thoughts are welcomed. Thank you.

2gb ram isn't worth worrying about, but then neither is the 3800. If you had to get either one or the other i would get the AM2 5000+ processor. I think that overall, you will notice a bigger performance gain by upgrading your processor.

I'm pretty much echoing what's above, your RAM isn't super fast or anything but I'd say a faster CPU would do much more for you.

Your System looks fine but instead of the 5000 go for the 5200, I think the 5200 is cheaper on newegg

Thanks

Thanks for the advice. Im gonna go with the 5200. The computer runs great but of course on some games that I run the maxed res. setting 1680x1050,it chuggs a bit. I know this wont cure it but it should make a noticable difference. This is one of the fastest and smartest forums Ive used. Thanks.
